Man In The Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world crowns you King for a day,
Go to a mirror and take a look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
It isn't your father or mother or brother or wife
Whose judgment on you must pass.
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he's with you clear up to the end.
And you have passed your most dangerous and difficult test
If the "Man in the Glass" is your friend.
You can walk through the world, down the pathway of years
And get pats on your back as you pass.
But, your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you cheat "The Man in the Glass."

Tomorrow
He would be all
That a mortal could be...
Tomorrow
No one would be kinder
Or fairer than she...
Tomorrow
Each day he would stack up
The letters he would write...
Tomorrow
She would think of the customers
She would fill with delight...
Tomorrow
But the fact is they died
And faded from view
And all that was left
When living was through
Was the mountain of things
They intended to do...
Tomorrow
